What we do

Our primary responsibilities

Registration

It's a legal requirement for all teachers and lecturers working in Nigerian schools and higher-education institutions to be registered. This is part of the agreed national terms and conditions of employment.

Regulation

We establish and maintain the standards for joining and continuing in the teaching profession, and address serious concerns raised about teachers and teacher lecturers.

Accreditation

TRCN is responsible for establishing standards for teacher education, accrediting Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes, approving qualifications for professional registration, and ensuring only suitably trained and qualified individuals enter the teaching profession.
